WhatCar? poll shows motorists have little faith in politics
Motoring publication WhatCar? has commissioned a survey showing that nearly half of motorists have no faith in any of the major UK political parties.
The report, published last Thursday, reflects that out of the 34 million drivers in the UK, 43 per cent of these cite that they have no belief in Labour, the Conservatives or Liberal Democrats.
The WhatCar? survey polled 1238 of motorists who are potential car buyers or perhaps thinking of selling a car, to see how they feel the three main parties would address their personal automobile issues.
With the scrappage scheme coming to a close, insurance premiums on the increase and fuel prices rising dramatically in recent months, it is of little surprise to find that motorists are demure in their response to the general election.
The survey questioned drivers on which party would provide the most support for motorists. Aside from the 43 per cent who believed that no party could help them, 37 per cent identified with the Conservatives, 11 per cent with Labour, 5 per cent with the Lib Dems and 4 per cent thought that the Green Party could serve their needs best.
Editor of WhatCar?, Steve Fowler, commented on the survey, saying: ''Our poll shows how little confidence the average motorist has in politicians. With more than 34 million motorists in this country, politicians would do well to listen to what they have to say.''
