Three dealerships in England to sell new McLaren supercar
McLaren has announced details of the first 23 dealerships to sell its new MP4-12C super car, according to What Car?.
Three of those dealerships are located in London, Birmingham and Manchester. The rest are scattered across the globe.
Deliveries of the brand new car are expected in spring next year, with around 500 cars being set aside for European customers. There have already been over 2,500 expressions of intent to buy the car, so people are being advised to order one now.
McLaren's plan is to have up to 70 dealers worldwide selling a total of 4000 cars a year.
It could be time for fans of super cars to ask themselves "Should I sell my Ferrari?" as the MP4 -12C is expected to cost between £125,000 and £175,000. McLaren said they would be bringing the performance of a £500,000 car to the road, at just a third of the price.
The plans for the car, which were unveiled last year, include a carbon fibre composite chassis, and will embrace Formula 1 sourced technology, including 'brake steer' where the inside rear wheel brakes during fast cornering to reduce under steer. It will be powered by a McLaren M838T 3.8 litre V8 twin-turbo engine, and power will be transmitted to the wheels through a 7-speed seamless shift dual-clutch gearbox. That will be equipped with 'Pre-Cog' to allow the driver to pre-select the next gear by half pulling the paddle shifter located behind the steering wheel, and enable the transmission to make faster gear changes.
Performance figures haven't been released but, according to Which Car?, the super car will be able to zoom from 0-125mph in less than 10 seconds and back to a standstill within another five seconds. They claim you can expect a 0-60mph time of less than 3.5 seconds.
