Subaru Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 coming soon
They brought us the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth, they have powered F1 teams such as Williams, Benetton, Jordan, McLaren and Lotus; now they are bringing us the Subaru Cosworth Impreza STI CS400.
To be launched next month, high performance engineering moguls Cosworth have teamed up with Japanese manufacturers Subaru to soup-up their latest Impreza model. Made famous by its rallying version, the Impreza was the must-have for car buyers in the 1990's, hoping to experience a feel of the rally stage on Britain's A roads.
Cosworth certainly have lived up to their reputation with the new Impreza STI CS400, boasting 395 bhp from a 2.5-litre engine. Such power ensures that the Impreza STI CS400 can reach 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. Getting the car up to heady speeds is a 6 speed gearbox armed with uber fast gear-change technology.
Keeping in mind its rallying counterpart, this Impreza is to have an electronically controlled four-wheel-drive system, adding extra stickability for race-track and everyday driving.
Car Magazine report that Cosworth have ''liberated'' 33 per cent more power from the standard Impreza, by installing a new turbo, high pressure oil pump, AP Racing brakes, revamped pistons and reducing the ride height of the car by 10mm.
To experience the muscle first hand, buyers will need £49,995 of cash for cars. Get in there quick, as only 75 are to be made according to What Car?
