Selling a car is easier if its a Ford Fiesta, figures reveal

The Ford Fiesta looks likely to a favourite model among cash-for-cars schemes over the next year, as sales figures reveal that the classic vehicle tops the UK's car sales.

Official sales figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that selling a car is likely to be much easier if it's a Ford - and even easier if it's a Fiesta. The world famous manufacturer was the brand leader for the UK market, with a lead of 8,084 cars registered thanks to selling over 9000 cars this February.

The most popular car in the UK market for new and used car buyers was also revealed to be the Ford Fiesta. It is ahead of the second placed Ford Focus for the year's current sales figures, which is itself 1,800 sales ahead of the nearest rival.

Nigel Sharp, managing director for Ford Britain, said: "February is traditionally a curtain raiser to the plate change month of March, when Ford customers will benefit from the company's best-ever vehicle range and its Spring marketing campaign, which establishes lower price points for its most popular models."

The Ford Fiesta was originally launched in the UK in 1976 and has become one of the most successful cars ever produced by Ford - making it one of the most successful cars ever made. It has sold over twelve million units over the past three and-a-half decades; in 2009, the year of the Fiesta's 30th anniversary, Ford UK recorded that sales had passed the 3,500,000 mark - second only to the Ford Escort, which sold 4,105,192 units before production halted in 2000.
