Seat launches Leon Cupra R

Much to the delight of hot-hatch loving car buyers, the Seat Leon Cupra R has been unleashed into the public domain.

With its banana yellow paint-job and attention grabbing styling, the Cupra R has kerb appeal. Styling modifications include twin central exhaust pipes, diffuser, 'R' badging, 19 inch alloys and the obligatory spoiler, providing a subtle but powerful charm.

The 'R' branding is not limited to the exterior, with the sleek black seats emblazoned with the logo - ensuring that owners don't forget which model they have.

It's not bad under the bonnet either, propelling itself from 0-62 mph in just a smidgen over 6 seconds. Taking its two litre, four cylinder turbocharged engine from its cousin the VW Scirocco, this souped-up Leon can easily reach the heady heights of 155 mph.

According to Top Gear, the car has green credentials despite its impressive performance statistics. Providing 34.9 mpg and 190g/km of CO2, it doesn't quite match Bluemotion standards, but compared to other sporty hatchbacks the Cupra R fares well.

Reportedly, 500 Seat Leon Cupra R's are to be produced per year with a respectable starting price of £25,205. Cheaper than its rivals, this super-quick Seat is sure to capture the market.
