Range Rover Evoque has arrived
The latest offering from Land Rover has finally been revealed to the public, showcasing its compact looks and high-spec design in a series of official pictures.
Going on sale to eager car buyers in summer 2011, the Evoque is to officially debut at the Paris Motor Show next month amongst a flurry of glitterati, including design consultant Victoria Beckham.
The lightest, most eco friendly Land Rover yet, according to Top Gear, will be powered by a 148 bhp 2.2 litre diesel engine which returns an impressive 58 mpg. With emissions of CO2 at 130 g/km and innovative stop start technology, the Evoque will keep environmentally-minded car enthusiasts happy. For those that want a little more oomph, a 2 litre 238 bhp petrol engine provides 0-62 mph in 7.1 seconds.
Land Rover design director, Gerry McGovern, spoke to The Telegraph about the company's new venture into the SUV market, saying: ''The Range Rover Evoque marks a bold evolution of Range Rover design by adopting new interpretations of classic design cues and staying true to core values.''
Describing the inspiration for the model's bold styling, McGovern added: ''With its dramatic rising beltline, a muscular shoulder running the entire length of the car and a distinctive taper to the floating roofline, the Evoque adopts a dynamic profile with a powerful and athletic stance.''
With three different trim options available - the Pure, Prestige and Dynamic - buyers will certainly have choice over their model's styling, from chunky alloys to sills and skirts.
And the price? Well get those designer purses at the ready as the Evoque's starting price is likely to be upwards of £30,000 according to AutoExpress.
