New Lotus models to be unveiled in Paris

According to motoring commentators, British car manufacturer Lotus is to unveil four new concept models, in a bid to expand its remit by producing a more varied range of models.

Using the Paris Motor Show in October for a grand premiere, Lotus will announce their plans for the future. According to Auto Express, concepts based on the Lotus Seven and Esprit will be shown-off to the waiting public. The Seven will be based on a Spanish sportscar and could even be produced in Spain, much to the anger of those who want to keep the brand British. Its production price could be around the £60,000 mark, prompting Porsche owners to think ''I should sell my Porsche Cayman S and invest in an all-new Lotus.''

The revamped Esprit could be in production by 2012, and will take the form of a mid-engined V8 turbo supercar. The Esprit concept has been put on the back-burner over the last few years, so Lotus fans will be clambering to see the new design, which Car Advice reports could be made predominately of aluminium.

As well as the more well-known Lotus names making a reappearance, the car-maker is set to announce two hybrid offerings - a hot hatch type car and a small coupe model. Both will be based loosely on the Lotus Evora 414E concept and will be powered by a home-grown electric engine.
