New contender for the Bugatti Veyron
A new contender for the title of top supercar is soon to emerge on the market according to Top Gear.
With an astounding 1,200 bhp [draws breath], the Hennessey Venom GT is to debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. Spy shots have been circulating round the internet, but as yet, no-one outside the Hennessey crib has seen the real deal.
The 2,400 pound, twin turbo-charged V8 coupe is currently undergoing testing, but is expected to reach speeds of 262 mph - beating the 253.5 mph of the Bugatti Veyron. Reaching 0-62 in around 2.4 seconds and 0-200 mph in less than 14.5 seconds, the Venom is sure to be the must-have car of 2010.
Such astonishing power will be available through a six speed gearbox, to be gently comforted by 15 inch Brembo brakes.
Top Gear reports that US company Hennessey Performance, believe this new supercar will ''produce enough power to make VW engineers cry/laugh/spontaneously vomit or send you into the nearest tree, backwards and on fire.''
Such claims may twist Bugatti Veyron owners arms to sell. Car buyers across the UK are waiting with baited breath to see just how much the Lotus Elise based Venom will cost.
And the response from Bugatti? Not worried apparently...
