MG TF to be reborn
In news to excite car enthusiasts across the country, manufacturer MG has announced that it is to create a new model to replace the uber popular MG TF.
Staying true to its British heritage, the new MG is to be created at its old haunt of Longbridge, where the downfall of Rover is still fresh in many people's minds.
Auto Express report that after numerous attempts on the design board, the company's Chinese owners are satisfied with the plans and are looking to move forward with production of the front engine roadster.
Releasing a series of mock up pictures, the car site anticipates that inspiration will come from the new model's predecessor, with two MG style slats around the badge, slick headlights and larger lower air intake.
Not being tempted to fall into the longer bonnet traditional roadster category, the new TF will have a more athletic edge with wide wheel arches and a shorter profile.
Under the bonnet, a range of engine specifications are reported to be manufactured, including a V6 petrol, turbo diesel and a hybrid model to challenge the likes of the new Lotus Elise.
The interior is rumoured to focus on the car's British roots with chrome edging and a clean looking simple dashboard.
Meanwhile, MG fans on the MG-Rover.org forum believe that the car would be better served being marketed along MG Midget lines. Whatever form the new sportscar comes out in however, expect owners of the current MG TF and rival Mazda MX-5 to be heard exclaiming ''buy my car'' when they see the muscular design.
Auto Express comment that MG is set to focus firstly on some of its smaller models including the MG3 and MG6 hatchback, but watch this space as its only a matter of time before they return to their sportscar focus.
