Luxury cars found in Suffolk barn
Seven luxury cars found covered in dust in a Suffolk barn, have fetched record high prices at auction.
The Maseratis, Bentleys, DeTomasos and a Jenson fetched an astounding amount of cash. For cars of such a luxury brand, figures of £160,000 were expected, but in actual fact, the cars achieved around the £190,000 mark.
BBC news reports that auctioneers from Lacy, Scott & Knight found the cars in the estate of a recently passed away collector. The cars were photographed covered in dust and some appeared almost untouched.
A DeTomaso had only 700 miles on the clock and still had the plastic covers on the seats, whilst a Bentley Mulsanne Turbo was found to have covered just 609 miles.
Edward Crichton, the auctioneer who made the discovery, stated of the find: ''You could say we were somewhat surprised, when I opened the door I just burst out laughing.''
Other cars found hidden away included a 1976 Jenson Interceptor, a 1999 Bentley Continental R Mulliner which reached the highest price of £45,500, a 1982 Maserati Khamsin and a 1988 Longchamp GTSE.
As well as the luxury cars, a Nissan Patrol, used by the owner on a more everyday basis was sold for £5,800.
The collector was reported to have owned an engineering firm, but his identity has yet to be revealed.
