Lexus tops of the JD Power Survey
It's a decade at the top for Lexus, as the Japanese carmaker wins the 2010 JD Power UK Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Survey (VOSS).
The Lexus RX topped the survey with a 86.7% customer satisfaction rate. The Jaguar XF and Lexus IS followed closely in second with an overall score of 83.9%.
Meanwhile the bottom spots were occupied by the Fiat Bravo, Peugeot 206 and Ford Ka, with the latter having the lowest score of 73.3%.
The JD Power Survey represents a good indicator for those looking to sell a car for cash to purchase a new model. With German and Japanese manufacturers taking up 16 of the top 20 spots, it seems that 2010 will be a promising year for car manufacturers like Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota.
To collate the survey, 17,000 UK car owners were interviewed online, giving detailed opinions on cars that they had owned over an average 24 month period.
Jaguar's second place and most dramatic year on year improvement, prompted a positive response from the brand. Managing Director Geoff Cousins, was cited in autoevolution as saying: ''Surveys that are based on customer satisfaction are always of great importance to us because they are a true reflection of how well our products are fairing.''
Senior Research Manager of JD Power and Associates, Martin Volk spoke to Auto Trader about this year's results, saying that customers who were satisfied with their car's servicing, were more likely to return to that manufacturer. Volk said: ''If dealerships want vehicle owners to return, it's crucial to make sure there's a focus on customer needs and that repair work is completed correctly the first time.''
