Lamborghini unveils Blancpain edition Gallardo

Lamborghini and Blancpain, the world's oldest luxury watchmaker have joined forces to create the new 199mph Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Blancpain Edition.

A combination of expertise in technology and design sees the new Lamborghini boast a mighty rear spoiler and an engine cover designed for maximum ventilation, which are both features derived from the race cars of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series.

The car is equipped with Skorpius wheels with yellow brake callipers and carbon-ceramic brake disc's. The matte black paintwork is designed to complement the carbon fibre used to produce the front air diffuser and the mirror casings.

The use of carbon fibre both inside and out keeps the vehicle weight down to 1340kg, giving the car a 0-62mph time of 3.4 seconds a feature that is sure to make any luxury car owner stop and think: "I want to sell my Lamborghini and replace it with one of those!"

Stephan Winkelmann president and CEO of Automobile Lamborghini, told The Telegraph: "In just its second year, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo has established itself in the premier league of gentleman's racing."

"Each race is a battle of dedication and passion for every single hundredth of a second-something that characterises our brands. Lamborghini is extremely happy about its cooperation with Blancpain."

Blancpain is the official timekeeper for the FIA GTI World Championship and has produced watches in Switzerland since 1735. Each timepiece is assembled by a single watchmaker, which Lamborghini says reflect the "quality and individual attention" that goes into its cars.
