Lamborghini and Koenigsegg clamped

The traffic warden has no mercy, even for supercars, as two impeccably crafted models were subject to a yellow incarceration in London.

The electric blue Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SuperVeloce and matching coloured Koenigsigg CCXR were parked outside Harrods luxury department store in Knightsbridge when they caught the beady eyes of a central London traffic warden who took no pity on their outlandish styling and combined value of £1.8 million. Attracting somewhat of a gathering, the cars were initially given tickets and then clamped.

The two supercars are owned by the Qatari royal family, who purchased Harrods in April this year for a reported £1.5bn. Unfortunately for them, despite a quick stop into their new purchase, their cars were ''in serious contravention of parking rules'' Kensington and Chelsea Council told the BBC, adding ''Our priority is our residents, to keep space available for them we must deter visitors from taking up residents' bays and our experience is that clamping is simply the most effective deterrent.''

With a £120 fine, it is unlikely that one of the owners of Harrods will think ''I need to sell my Lamborghini to pay for the fine.'' Nevertheless, the clamping certainly gave passers-by a good view of two imprisoned exclusive exotics.
