Classic car owner waves goodbye to vintage collection of a lifetime
If you're having trouble making the decision to sell your car for cash, then spare a thought for David Daw of Bristol. This 68 year old architect isn't just selling a car - he's selling the classic car that helped him win his wife's hand in marriage and a staggering 10 other vintage cars.
Mr Daw first got into vintage cars when he was 18. Looking to impress his prospective father in law and secure his marriage prospects, young David Daw restored a vintage Austin car to show-worthiness. 50 years later it seems safe to say that the gamble worked.
After this stunt Daw developed a taste for vintage vehicles and spent the next 50 years finding and rebuilding a small fleet of Austins.
However even as he and his now-wife Sandra celebrate their golden wedding anniversary, David is forced to say goodbye to the classic car which helped get him there and the rest of his cars. As he has aged, his ability to enjoy the cars has decreased and now Sandra says he's just too big to drive the cars.
Speaking to Limo Broker, Daw says that last time they went for a drive in the Austin his wife had to pull the hood down for him and he's been having trouble getting behind the wheel - so it's time for him to sell his collection of 10 vintage cars.
The vehicles will be auctioned off to interested classic car buyers individually and are expected to fetch between £70,000-100,000 collectively.
