Citroën slap £23,100 price tag on DS3 Racing
French manufacturer Citroën has revealed that prices for its DS3 Racing hot hatch will start at £23,100 when it hits showroom floors next year.
The DS3 has been developed by Citroën Racing, the team behind Citroën's hugely successful World Rally Championship team. According to What Car?, the hot hatch will feature a 204bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, taking it from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds, with a top speed of 146mph.
Citroën Racing have played an important role in the new car's design, making alterations to the suspension, lowering the ride height and widening the track in a bid to improve handling and enable better cornering.
Car buyers keen to get their hands on a new DS3 Racing will have to move quickly, say Car Magazine. Just 200 right-hand drive models will initially be available in the UK, and Citroën claims that more than 1500 potential buyers have already registered an interest via its website.
The DS3 Racing will only be available in two colour schemes, which is rather surprising given the relatively steep price tag. Buyers will have to choose either a black body with an orange roof, or a white body with a grey roof.
Citroën claims that the DS3 Racing offers greater performance than its rivals in the burgeoning supermini market, but without sacrificing comfort and functionality.
"Significantly better specified than many of its competitors, DS3 Racing is a driver's car that doesn't compromise on comfort and convenient technology," Citroën said in a press release.
