Chris Evans treats himself to the UK's most expensive car
Radio 2 DJ and television personality Chris Evans has bought himself one of the world's most exclusive cars, paying £12 million for a vintage Ferrari GTO.
The ginger haired radio presenter has achieved record ratings for his Radio 2 breakfast show, after taking over from Terry Wogan who relinquished the role last December. According to The Telegraph, Evans' show drew in 9.5 million weekly listeners, beating the likes of Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles.
After hearing of his success, Evans reportedly treated himself to a 1963 250 GTO, one of only 36 models ever produced. Evans, who already has an impressive Ferrari collection, was rumoured to have sold three of his existing portfolio in order to buy the car that Top Gear describes as the ''Leonardo da Vinci of motoring.''
The GTO has certainly been a good investment, with its original retail price standing at just £6,000. Mr Evans' rare Series III bodywork model will join his other models at his home in Surrey, including a 275 GTB, 288 GTO, F40, Enzo and his infamous £6 million 250 California Spider.
Reports of this impressive sale will surely come as good news for those selling a car of considerable value, showing that by purchasing a vintage classic, car buyers could make money in the long term.
