Chilly weather prompts increase in 4x4 sales
Britain's current snowy conditions and icy temperatures are prompting an increase in demand for 4x4 vehicles, reports Car Dealer Magazine.
4x4s are highly practical for wintry weather, offering good grip and a robust, solid body, capable of driving through blizzard conditions. Automotive industry expert, Tim Naylor, claims "As the temperature drops, we have seen 4x4 values rise quite sharply. Values for some models climbed by around 5 percent in November, compared to similar vehicles bought in the previous month."
"Nothing makes a four-wheel drive more attractive than a dusting of snow. And the last few days' weather has certainly stirred interest." added Naylor in Car and Van News.
Naylor advises that those who want to sell a car for cash and invest in a 4x4 should definitely do it now, claiming "Even accounting for the rise prices following the early onset of winter, car buyers should still be able to find a good deal on a 4x4."
The news comes shortly after an announcement by the North East Lincolnshire Care Trust, who have been appealing for local 4x4 drivers to help the Trusts' stranded nurses, doctors and locums get into work. In a press statement released this morning, a spokesperson said "We need to transport nurses, who are stuck in their homes, to work at hospitals and would like to appeal to members of the public who own 4x4 vehicles to come to the hospital reception, where they will be co-ordinated to collect nurses and bring them into work."
"This method has been used once before in bad weather, and some very kind-hearted local people turned out to help." concluded the statement.
