Chevrolet Camero brings muscle to UK

Bringing a flavour of America to a market flooded with German and Japanese sensibility, Chevrolet have announced they are to sell their Camaro in the UK from 2011.

Unveiling their decision at the Goodwood Festival of Speed's Moving Motorshow yesterday, Chevrolet told eager fans that their V8 coupe will go on sale in May next year, with a cabriolet version expected to follow suit.

The retro piece of Americana will be available to UK buyers in its highest specification SS model, delivering 426 bhp from a 6.2 litre engine. Such a powerful combination means the Camaro exceeds 0-60 in less than 5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 155 mph. These impressive stats combined with muscular styling could prompt English supercar stalwarts to announce: ''I need to sell my Bentley'' and move to an all-American dream.

Auto Express reports that the Camaro will only be available in left-hand drive, with 100 exclusive models promised to UK car buyers each year. Nevertheless, fear not if you fail to secure one, as many Camaro fans have been importing the latest model over from the US since its original launch in 2009.

Price-wise, the Camaro is expected to cost around the £30k mark and will be fully equipped with a full manufacturer's warranty.
