Car collector is selling a Batmobile

A film fanatic who has been collecting famous cars for 25 years has decided to sell his Batmobile, according to the Daily Mail.

Car buyers are expected to bid £40,000 for the Batmobile when it goes to auction this June, in Surrey.

Mr Perkins' has amassed a £500,000 fleet of cars that have appeared on film and TV. His collection boasts originals of the Flintstones' car, Batman's Batbike, Mr Bean's Mini, Starksy and Hutch's Ford Torino, Del Boy's Reliant Robin and James Bond's Aston Martin, from the Goldfinger film. He also has replicas of the Batmobile, the Ghostbusters' Ectomobile and Noddy's Toyland car.

He's recently agreed a deal to buy a 1967 Pontiac GTO from New York - the car from the the Monkees.

The car collector, who works as a property developer, said he's sad to sell his Batmobile replica, which he has owned for over 20 years. Mr Perkins told the Daily Mail: "It is sitting in my garage collecting dust. I don't really want to sell it. But classic cars, and this one in particular, should be driven to be enjoyed. I've loved taking it on the road over the years. However, I will have little time to do so in the future, and so sadly it's time someone else derived pleasure of ownership.''
