British supercar prototype revealed
With the demise of TVR, British sportscar production has been rather limited to say the least - well until now, as a fully functional prototype of an all-new 550bhp supercar has been released.
The Arash AF-10 first hit the design table in 2006, after Iranian-born entrepreneur Arash Farbound became disenchanted with the existing range of supercars. Taking four years to produce, the AF-10 unveils a range of mouth watering technology and according to CarAdvice, the car was inspired by the Ferrari Enzo.
Built using a nomex-cored carbon-fibre body combined with a steel roll cage and flat underfloor, the car is certainly light as a feather. Coupling that with a 7 litre Corvette V8 engine and you have a car that can reach 0-62 mph in 3 seconds, with a top speed of 207 mph.
As well as this 550bhp version, Arash has hinted to Top Gear about the production of a Veyron-eating 1,200 bhp model, describing it as ''practically a Le Mans car.'' Surely such a car could prompt owners of other exotica to consider saying: ''I need to sell my Lamborghini for a piece of British design.''
And the price? Well hold onto your Philip Treacey hats as the top spec 1,200bhp version could cost in the region of £1.6million. Meanwhile, the mere 550bhp model is expected to be on sale for £320,000.
