Barack Obama car being auctioned for $1 million
A Chrysler Sedan driven by Barack Obama is being auctioned off at a starting price of $1 million (£640,000).
The vehicle, which it is estimated would normally sell for around £17,000 brand new, was reportedly leased by Obama from 2004 - 2007 before he became president of the United States.
The auction is being run by Lisa Czibor after her friend approached and asked "Can you help sell my car?".
In an interview with ibtimes.com, Czibor appeared confident that someone would be willing to pay a seven figure sum for the vehicle. "People pay ridiculous amounts of money for things," she quipped.
"It would be good for, say, a mid-level rapper who has an album coming out or is opening a club and wants more publicity. If they bought this for $1 million, they would be interviewed by all of the people that are calling me. They would get so much free publicity."
A report from Mail Online has pointed out that many famous cars have been auctioned off for a similar amount to Obama's in the past. A 1977 Peugeot once owned by Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was sold for this figure, whilst Hitler's Mercedes raised $1.6 million (£1 million).
The auction ends on February 1st.
