Audi A7 unveiled
Ahead of its official public launch, Audi has given car buyers a sneak preview of the all new A7 model which it hopes will challenge the likes of the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes CLS.
Staying true to the concept released last year at the Detroit Motor Show, the A7 is a larger offering positioned at the executive market. To appeal to this spectrum of enthusiasts the A7 will be fully equipped with a range of features, including an electrically operated hatch.
According to Top Gear, this monster Audi will be produced in four versions - a 2.8 litre, a 3.0 litre supercharged petrol variant, as well as 2 diesel models with the highest spec A7 offering 297 bhp. This high-spec 3.0 litre TFSI can reach 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, accelerating to a top speed of 155 mph.
Unlike some rivals, the A7 is to be packed full of extras including a 6.5 inch dashboard monitor to equip the driver with satellite navigation, climate control and phone functionality. The quality of the Audi is reported by Auto Express to be second to none, featuring real wood, leather and aluminium, to give a modern yet classically stylish theme.
An RS7 model is expected to follow the launch of the A7 in August, to really blow any competitors off the racetrack. Meanwhile buyers will have to wait till January 2011 to take delivery of their A7 with prices expected to range from £43,745 to £48,060.
