An excessive Golf concept released
Popular auto-maker VW are well known for creating must-have GTI versions of their classic Golf model, but their latest move to soup-up the model is pretty impressive, even for German standards.
Moving their Golf out of the realms of hot hatch and into the zone of ice cool, VW have created a new Excessive concept car to whet car buyers appetites.
Showcased at the Austrian owners' meet on Friday, the Excessive Golf houses a 2 litre turbo charged engine, boasting a more streamlined exhaust system, upgraded breaks, sportier suspension and 19 inch alloys, which require an extension to existing wheel arches to fit in.
Performance-wise, the Excessive is very, well excessive for a hot hatch, with 271 bhp and 211 lb ft of torque. On the design front, Top Gear and AutoExpress report that the concept sports some impressive designer gear, with an all new front grille, rear wing, sill extensions, flared arches and a race car like diffuser, making it look a little meatier than the standard GTI.
Whilst there has been no mention of a release date for the Excessive, it is likely that if this concept attracts enough interest from VW enthusiasts, that the accessories pack will be available for current GTI owners.
