Alfa Romeo Spider boat-tails boast "uncorruptable purity"

The return on investment and "incorruptible purity" of an Alfa Romeo Spider boat-tail car make it a great purchase.

Motoring expert Keith Adams wrote on Octane that the Spider range offers something for everyone, but the boat-tail models are simply "irresistible" - particularly if buyers like to get a good amount of cash for cars when they sell them on.

He said: "The truly desirable Spiders are, of course, the boat-tail cars. No question about that, given their rarity, originality, style and sweetness. They're the most expensive and offer the greatest potential return on your money."

However Mr Adams stressed that the early Spiders, S2s, S3s and S4s each have their benefits. In his opinion, the extensive specialist support for Spiders in the UK actually make them a generally sensible choice for a buyer who wants an exotic automobile that can still be fixed by technicians around the country.

There is still so much affection for the Spider among car enthusiasts around the world, with one such fan describing in the Shawnee Dispatch how much he enjoyed driving his 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider.

John Beal remarked how the Spider was one of the great sports cars of the 1950s - 1960s and his particular automobile is his favourite of all 21 vehicles he has owned over the course of his life.
