If your car has had a new engine does that mean it is worth less or more? Does the fact that it has had a re-spray mean make it less or more desirable? The answer to both these questions is it depends on the quality of work that has been done. In reality, used car buyers do not tend to think "outside the box" too often, preferring the norm to the unusual. However, in theory a new engine is a plus not a negative, so long as the work has been carried out by an authorised dealer and you have the supporting invoice and warranty paperwork. The same applies to a re-spray. If the work has been done properly, to a high standard, then this could actually enhance the value of your car.
Selling cars online - I am not the registered keeper, will you still buy my car?
The registered keeper of a car is not necessarily the legal owner. So long as you are able to verify that you are the legal owner of the car you wish to sell we will still buy your car. Proof of legal ownership would be a copy of the original purchase invoice or bill of sale. If you have misplaced this simply contact the dealer you purchased the car from for a duplicate.

Selling cars online - I want to keep my private plate.

There are two stages to the plate retention process. The first stage takes about a week and involves the local DVLA office confirming the new registration number and issuing the new tax disc. The second stage takes a little longer, on average about another 4 weeks. This involves the local DVLA office sending off the current V5 document to DVLA Swansea for them to issue the new V5 with the new registration number. DVLA Swansea will send this new V5 to you, the registered keeper, as opposed to whoever you agreed to buy your car. This represents an issue for most car dealers as firstly they are unable to sell any car on unless they are able to tax it and they can't tax it with the V5 document. Secondly, there is clearly some risk buying a car and then having to wait 6 weeks for the new V5 document, knowing that it is going to be sent to the seller not the buyer. SellCar-UK.com will require you to ensure that there is at least 4 weeks remaining tax left on your car and we will also hold back £500 from any price we agree to buy your car for, subject to receipt of the new V5 from you some 4 weeks later. This process enables SellCar-UK.com to buy your car straightaway, at today's value, rather than waiting a few weeks and running the risk of a lower valuation.

Cars wanted - do you buy imports?
Yes, we buy any cars and we will buy your car if it is an import. We will need to know if it is a grey import (from outside the EEC) or a parallel import (from within the EEC) and we will need to ascertain any differences in specification to a UK supplied car. If your car is a grey import, we will need you to pay us a small fee to undertake a BIMTA check, which is basically an HPIi check for cars supplied from outside the EEC. This report costs about £40 and takes about 2 weeks to complete.
